Oh boy - breakdown on live TV

I am just cringing a little bit. Look we all know I am no big fan of Brooke's personality. But (and thank god you can just scroll down to see this) I was a fan of her voice and even her style of music. But here is the bottom line...this girl cannot deal with the pressures of this industry. We basically just witnessed a breakdown live on national television. This poor girl. Yikes. I am so uncomfortable.

So let's backtrack a bit. Show opens and Ryan acknowledges the weirdness of the night, but not the actual issue -- Paula. Then we go to Neil Diamond medley -- OMG, terrible. Until David Cook sings, this looks like an old amateur hour. Yes girls, switch seats! And forcing Brooke to dance with David Cook? Talk about uncomfortable. This top 5 looks retarded together. Note to those who think the tour would be bad, I just want to point out that they don't really do a lot of group numbers on tour. They let each of the top 10 do some songs (as they get toward the top, each contestant does more songs). But then why do they torture us with these things each week? Why didn't David and David just sing You Don't Bring Me Flowers and we could move to the Top 2?

Then Ryan is talking to Constantine and Gina Glocksen. I understand that Constantine had the charisma to get a chance to host a show, but Gina -- what season was she from? And who cares?

Then they recap. Brooke's second choice was really good. Jason Castro really has no musical context. I think it is a problem that he doesn't know Andrew Lloyd Webber or Neil Diamond -- even enough to pick a song or two that he knows?? Are they not going back to the Paula moment? Really? FYI, I skipped to watch only results related things and am now watching everything else, so I'm not in order. Aha, here are Ryan's comments. What rumors is he talking about? That Paula couldn't complete a sentence? Dude that is not a rumor, that is truth. But I am glad that he acknowledged that she is part of the family and they love her. Someone asked me tonight if Paula should be replaced -- No. She is a little crazy, but who cares? She is part of the dynamic of the show. We need something to focus on when America votes idiotically. At least we can all unite in the fact that Paula can be crazy. Oh and just so you know, I have serious issues spelling retarded. I always think it is retarted like a tart. Anyway...

Who thinks Jason Castro smokes the heeby jeeb? He is just too smiley to be completely okay.

Really, they think I am going to watch So You Think They Can Dance? No way dude. I need six months to recover before the next season of Idol.

I LOVED David Cook's comments that Paula calling him the next Idol made him worried that it was the kiss of death like what happened with Simon and Carly. David Cook wanted a finale with Carly too. He loves her like I do.

So finally it is the bottom two, Brooke and Syesha, as it should have been for many weeks. Not unexpected. Not brand new for them. Both of them had a lot to say back to Ryan as he tried to get through his cue cards. God they are annoying.

I actually didn't watch Natasha Bedingfield sing on the second viewing either. Ryan asked Natasha if she felt the same way during her auditions as the top 5 and she said yes but then she said she didn't have any auditions. Is her name Paula? And then she wanted to say hi to David A. I though he would gasp out of breath. No, but really, that was cute.

Q&A time - I love this new addition to the season. Note to those people who are doing research on what to change or not change, definitely keep the Q&A. I love it. How did they find this woman who kissed Simon when they were 9? He genuinely liked her -- so sweet!!

And oh my god, I watched a verse of Neil Diamond but I couldn't bear it. I liked the horn section dancing in the background. What happened between Neil and Simon??

So back to results. Brooke is the one to go. Wow, she was really crying. Like sobbing. And I genuinely felt bad for her. And her husband. But come on, didn't she know this was coming eventually? And then of course she couldn't sing (or remember the words) but she didn't just stop and acknowledge that. Did you see David Cook awkwardly try to reach out to her like, "Oh you can stop now, it's ok, just chill?" But she didn't stop. She kind of lost it with a vengeance. Go Brooke, go.

SO it is the top 4. David and David and Jason and Syesha. WOW, that Syesha has been in the bottom 2 almost every week. But she is still there. What is the theme next week? God I hope it is current song week. I would love to see them do one current song finally.

I have to sign off now, because I am going to download David's song from last night. To my new readers, here is my sign off,

don't be ashamed of your obsessions...

because you have to admit them to truly enjoy them.
